README
FAIR and Open Research Practices
Two practical, 100-minute lessons for postgraduate researchers, research staff and academics. Learners assess the usability of research outputs, then justify appropriate practices for transparent and responsible research.
- FAIR Research Outputs: four principles applied to data, transcriptions and a workflow.
- Open Research Practices: publication, early sharing, research plans, methods, credit and access choices.
Each lesson allocates 55 minutes to teaching and review and 45 minutes to active learning, including debriefs. Breaks are additional. The course assumes basic RDM familiarity; it does not reteach routine management or detailed software engineering.
Start with the Course Overview, Setup and fictional scenario pack. Use Additional Material, Reference and Discussion to consolidate your decisions. Teaching teams should read Instructor Notes, Instructor Additional Material and Extra Exercises.
All fictional cases are teaching examples. Primary guidance is linked where claims require a source; publication and access decisions for real projects require checking the applicable requirements at the time of use.
